Post Apocalypse Temping, The Days After Options

Judging from the fact that even I and now starting to get a lot of work, it appears that the temping apocalypse is over and we are now in the "Days After".

While a lot of Shit Shop Temp Agencies HAVE made it through the apocalypse without going under, almost no one has gone through the last two years without being humbled in some way or another.

it is now very very clear that temp agencies can go a long time without getting any new work.

The biggest "Sea Change" of the apocalypse has been more or less accepting that the investment banking glory hole may never recover, i.e., that it may never again be possible for a lot of temp agencies to just sit back and collect millions (maybe even tens of millions) of dollars a year from some connection at an investment bank.

More or less, everyone had recognized that you can't survive (or survive very well) with just investment banking, that you have to have a hedge.

And,

The most lucrative hedge to investment banking is Legal.

AND,

It is rather hard to DO LEGAL in Manhattan without having a certain number of Black Temps (since a large and increasing number of the supervisors and managers of clerical at law firms are Black Women).

I have to tell you it was a hoot to hear of a White Only Tude Agency trying to BUY some Blacks from another temp agency (by offering to buy this temp agency that specialized in legal) when Tude & Company realized that investment banking would no longer support it in the lifestyle to which it had become accustomed to.

In order to appreciate the CLASH between a formerly White Only Tude Agency and Law Firms, you would have to have seen the effect of some Attitude Filled Actress Temp Bitch doing her STAR TURN in a word processing center full of Black Women from the Caribbean.

Trying to PIMP White Attitude Actor Temps ™ to law firms is like trying to sell *ussy to men who live in Manhattan (i.e the handfull of people with the slightest interest in it already have more of it than they could ever possibly use).

The Wake Up Call for White Trash City ™

The wake up call in Philadelphia came when Rizzo realized that most of his White Racist Supporters had already moved to the burbs and that there weren't enough of them left in the city to elect a Rizzo as mayor.

The wake up call for New York City has not been as loud and has not been as clear as the one in Philadelphia, but it is here nonetheless. The days of New York City as White Trash City ™ (i.e as America's Last Remaining White Metro) are Over. In a matter of years, New York City will look just like Philadelphia and DC and almost every other major metro area in America, i.e it will be largely non-Whites, White Professionals and Gays. The assholes that have remained in NYC long past the drop-dead-date, will finally move their tired asses to the burbs (or where ever it is that the *ucking horde is living these days).
