hundreds of new jobs could be coming to the duke city's west side. our partners at albuquerque business first report fed-ex could be building a new "ground complex" at unser and i-40. that's where we find stuart dyson. " right now it's all jackrabbits and rattlesnakes and tumbleweeds - but it could soon be home to a multi-million dollar 200 thousand square foot fedex operation that would employ a lot of people." fedex will say only that the location is "under consideration" but the city environmental planning commission has already approved it and city leaders are optimistic. " i think we can expect more of this coming through as far as being in the game - chasing these really viable projects - making sure that we're making Albuquerque as attractive as possible - we'll get some and others we won't but the fact is that we're in the game on these." there's a smaller fedex freight operation nearby on the other side of unser - constant trucks co ming and going. the new complex would go up on vacant land just south of the new bruckner's truck sales and service center - and the city's daytona transit center - and north of a residential neighborhood. " and let me tell ya - fedex ground is no shabby operation - it employs more than 65 thousand people and handles about four and a half million packages a day - would it be good for albuqujerque's economy - you could bet the ranch on that - back to you."
