Beware Taylor Hodson, playing games with checks Options

As if it is not enough to work all week for shit rates, having an agency play games with your check is just too much.

The trump card with agencies saying that they won't pay you is that you then have a legal right to sue their client (you can head down to small claims court, pay your $15.00, sue the client, fax the client and the temp agency a copy of the lawsuit and your check will most likely be hand delivered to you - either that or the client will dump the temp agency).

Of course no temp agency in their right mind will do anything that will lead you to sue their client, so the we won't pay you con is just a game of chicken, it is a game in which the temp counselor/agency thinks that it is much smarter than you are.

I worked for an old temp agency called Chanel Staffing years ago that was famous for missing payroll. I took work with this agency even though I heard the rumors because I needed the work. I worked for Chanel a number of years before they eventually tried their "we won't pay you game on me" (and of course I sued their Client, what is even worst, I sued their Client AFTER I got payment from the Department of Labor). I also reported Chanel to the IRS and they, for some strange reason, went out of business.

Taylor Hodson is obviously giving someone work, but you should be warned that they are very quick to call you up and say something like "Oh, we don't have your tax records (or some such shit) so we can't release your check until you come in and do such and such. This is all a little game they are trying to play because they are under the delusion that they are smart. Personally, I would not go in and try to pick up a check if they called me and said this, I would just sue their client (if they didn't mail my check).

if you have been Black in New York City more than a day or two, you should know that if someone White calls the NYPD on you, you are going to jail no matter how stupid their claims may be. This is why I would never go to any temp agency, or any other business in NYC for that matter, if they gave any hint that they might be capable of anything. And, I definitely go the impression that Taylor Hodson is capable of doing and saying anything.

You can take your chances with Taylor Hodson if you need work, but be warned.

Getting Your Money

Filing a lawsuit is so unpredictable that if you DO sue a temp agency for not paying you, there is always the chance that you will lose the lawsuit even though you did the work and the agency didn't pay you. If you get a judge who does not like you, you are not going to win a lawsuit no matter what the facts are (and let me tell you this my friends, nothing happens to judges with they choose to ignore the law, all you can do is file an appeal and then you run the risk of meeting a few more judges who won't like you).

So, if you really WANT to get your money, the safest thing to do is file a complaint with the Department of Labor. The Department of Labor is more likely to get your money for you but it could take a month or more before it does.

This is exactly why companies play the "we won't pay you game", companies know that they can roll the dice and maybe come up with a judge that will decide for them even though they didn't pay you and companies know that even if they do lose a lawsuit that all they will likely have to do is pay you the money that they should have paid you several months earlier.

And this my friend is what makes suing Clients WORK. When you are prepared to sue a temp agency's Client, the idiot ***king agency is presented with a ***king hell of a ***king incentive to pay you and the game then shifts in your favor. When you sue the temp agency's client, since you are legally entitled to the money and you have a legitimate right to sue the client, all you can lose is not getting paid, BUT the temp agency could lose a Client (which could mean possibly millions of dollars a year to the agency).

It is a sad state of affairs that some of us have to fight to get shit temp jobs at shit rates and then we have to threaten idiot ***kers just to get paid, but welcome to New York City. In New York City, you are not likely to find a judge or a government agency that will give a shit about protecting your rights, so you have to be prepared to ***k over anyone who even dreams of ***king with you.
