Q: How do I get a travel guide? A: COLONIAL HOMES Throughout the years, tours of the 18th century houses in Fairmount Park are given by the Park House Guides of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Individual and group tours may be arranged, in advance, by telephoning the Park House Guides Office, 215-684-7926. BOATHOUSES AND SCULPTURE Uniquely Philadelphia walking tours show where 18th & 19th century Philadelphians found beauty, sculling, fishing, swimming, and ice skating along the river, and highlights the city's outstanding collection of public sculpture. Admission, Info: 215-684-7926 FAIRMOUNT WATER WORKS Together with its gardens, the picturesque and sophisticated Water Works was a "must see" for all Americans and visitors abroad. The five acres set aside for the Water Works in 1812 was the genesis fo Fairmount Park as we know it today. Interpretive Center Tours closed until Fall 2002 PARK TROLLEY TOURS Colorful anecdotes, humorous stories and historical information are combined into a fast moving 2-hour narrative that will both entertain and educate. The trolley visits selected sites throughout the year based on opening times of the various museums, the season, and special events in the park. Trolleys tours run year round.
